You will be fishing from a 19’ John Sport Boats center console shallow running boat powered by a 140hp Suzuki, featuring a Garmin EchomapBluechart GPS, Horizon Explorer VHF Marine Radio, 8 center console rod holders, coolers for drinks and fish, and a front hatch for personal and safety gear storage. Up to three anglers can come along and spend quality time with enough space for fishing. With an annual mean temperature of 73 degrees, almost every day is a good day for fishing the Lower Laguna and on average we have 227 sunny days per year!
Your guide for the day is Captain Arnold Muniz. Arnold has been a fisherman as long as he can remember. He grew up fishing the waters of the Lower Laguna. Arnold loves fishing. He is a people person and will make sure you have a nice day exploring the waters of the Lower Laguna and banks of the Arroyo Colorado. Keep your eyes open because on any given day you could see many bird species to include the Louisiana brown pelican, American white pelican, Roseate spoonbill and Osprey. Along the Arroyo Colorado, the sighting of whitetail deer, coyotes and Nilgai are common. Besides finding fish, you will likely find a friend in Arnold, and a taste of Southern Hospitality.
All the fishing gear will be waiting for you onboard. You will have a choice of top quality spinning or bait cast Penn and Shimano and Lews reels paired with 6’ and 7’ top quality rods. While we cherish the added challenge of using artificial lures that are always on hand, live bait can be provided upon request and availability. Your own personal fishing gear is always welcome. You need to purchase a valid Texas saltwater fishing license. Bring sunscreen and sunglasses and any special beverage you might want to drink. Water and sodas and snacks will be onboard waiting for you. Safety First! Please drink responsibly - save your celebration for when we get back to the dock!
Interested in adding wing-shooting to your fishing excursion? A cast and blast is the perfect way to meld your passion for hunting and fishing. Ask us about our “cast and blast” hunts. This package combines a morning fishing trip with an afternoon dove hunt, and usually runs from early September to early November.
We welcome catch and release or keeping and cleaning your catch. We will gladly clean and bag your fresh catch at our fish cleaning station located right on the dock. A private washroom and restroom facility is also available for your use upon departure and return. While we clean your catch, you can relax and enjoy the quietness and serenity of the Arroyo on the patio breezeway or over the water on the boathouse deck.
While we have a few Do’s and Don’ts, the most important Reel Cajun Rule is Have Fun!
If we don’t respond right away we just might be out fishing!
